Plastic beads, cord, metal pipe
≈ 58 × 60 cm

An image of raw meat. Five thousand plastic beads on cord, hung from a metal pipe.
Meat rots. Plastic doesn’t. I made an image of the most perishable thing there is out of a material that will outlast me by several hundred years.
No bead is the exact colour of meat. Every colour in this is a near miss, five thousand times over. You thread one, then the next, then the next — dark red, lighter red, the pink one, dark red again.
The cords at the bottom are blood that never lands.
An overexposed photograph is one that took in too much light. Everything is still in it. Nothing arrives.
The first person I showed it to did not see meat. I told him it was there. He still couldn’t see it.
I don’t know whether that means it worked. If you see the meat, the work is wrong about you. If you don’t, you have proved it and missed it at the same time.
